Old Movie Studio - International Production Center

Ruins of old film studio The International Producers Center (IPC) was developed with facilities for motion picture and television productions. I was built just outside the Gold Creek Rock former guided missile base, in the acreage that on the eastern boarder. It was located on a 45 mile track of land. It included two (2) sound stages and a 5,000 sq. ft. administration building. At the time the investment was valued at $3 million. The sound stages were each 80 by 100 feet and 45 feet high. The project was financed by a former movie producer, Albert C. Gannaway Jr., a Scotland investment company, and Freeport contractor and investor, William S. Jamieson.

The tax free concessions were a large part in choosing Freeport as the location for this studio but also important were the amount of sunshine. Natural light was playing a larger factor in filming and the island of Grand Bahama seemed to be a good choice with this in mind. The studio was used by the investors for their own productions and also rented to outside producers. In its day it was a state of the art movie studio.
